HOW TO TAKE YOUR BASIC BODY MEASUREMENTS + CHOOSE A SEWING PATTERN SIZE
To make sure you choose the correct sewing pattern size, take your basic body measurements. Note that sizing may slightly differ from pattern company to pattern company, so it's always best to measure first! You'll see the Cloth Story women's size chart below with instructions on how to measure your bust, waist, and hips.
Compare your body measurements with the size chart and choose the size closest to your measurements. If you are in-between sizes, I recommend going up one size. A garment that's slightly larger than one that's too small is always better in the end! You can always make alterations.
Keep in mind that sewing patterns include wearing ease, so you can also compare your body measurements with the finished garment measurements.
Take your measurements using the guide below, then choose your size from the size chart.
