HOW TO HAND-SEW | THE FELL STITCH
The fell stitch is quick, strong and flexible. The stitches are straight, neat and visible on the wrong side of the fabric. The fell stitch is often used as a hemming stitch or to applique. In this tutorial I'll show you how to hem your project using the fell stitch.
1. Fold the hem up as desired.
2. At the left-hand end of your project, bring the needle up through the hem, a short distance from the folded edge.
3. From left to right, make a tiny stitch through the main fabric above where the thread came out. Make sure to only pick up a couple of threads so that the stitches barely show on the right side.
4. At an angle, take the needle through the hem, a short distance from the folded edge.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you finish.
