HOW TO HAND-SEW | THE HERRINGBONE STITCH

The herringbone stitch is a very strong hemming stitch. The needle points from right to left, but then the needle is worked from left to right.

HOW TO:

1. Fold the hem up as desired. At the left-hand end of your project, bring the needle up through the folded edge. From right to left, make a tiny stitch through the main fabric. Make sure to pick up only a couple of threads so that the stitches barely show on the right side.

2. Take the needle across a stitch length to the right. From right to left, make a tiny stitch through the folded hem. Take the needle across a stitch length to the right and repeat the process until you are finished.
